Heroes of Newerth (HON) is a S2Games game title heavily based on the popular Warcraft 3 map, Defense of The Ancients (DotA). As a DBG (DotA based game), the mechanics are simple:
Two teams of up to five players each take the role of a Hero unit for the entire match. They are assisted with AI-controlled units referred to as creeps. Each team must destroy the other team's base, much like in Savage. So if you've played DotA on the Warcraft engine, Heroes of Newerth will not be a problem. In fact, a large percentage of teams in DotA's competitive scene have transferred to HoN.
S2 Games - the indie developer behind HoN
What is the Dota genre?
The DotA genre pertains to all "DotA clones" that have popped out like Demi-God, lol. Where other Dota based games have failed, Heroes of Newerth has done excellently. In fact, it's player base adds up in the thousands every single day. Majority from the hard to please DotA community. HoN has earned the distinction of being an incredibly deep, tactical DotA based game (DBG) with some very addictive game-play.
What is the HonDotA Project?
The HonDotA Project will recreate Icefrog's DotA (www.playdota.com) on the K2 Engine. By using the Heroes of Newerth game engine, it will take full advantage of all the premium features being offered by S2 Games (reconnection, extensive stat tracking, VoIP, etc.) while remaining close to the classic DotA gaming experience.

ReplyDeleteGood luck with the project
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea :D I support!
ReplyDeleteGo for it.
ReplyDeleteare you gona make the old dota heroes or take the HoN once?
Awesome :D
ReplyDeletei've been waiting for this!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone would at least try it. Hell I'd play it over HoN.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS GOING TO BE LEGENDARY!!!
ReplyDelete3 weeks before you actually get bored
ReplyDeleteEnjoy wasting your time
will this be like the enhanced HoN project?
ReplyDeleteGood Job!! Dota + HoN = the best
ReplyDeleteHON ENGINE=FREE ENGINE? OK GOOD LUCK GUYS
ReplyDeleteIf it will be same as dota - then hooray to it!
ReplyDeleteHope icefrog or blizzard wont stop this project, cuz they got all rights for dota...
ReplyDeleteI will be playing and supporting this!
ReplyDeleteDont give this precious idea up!
Some of the comments here are funny.
ReplyDeleteNeither Icefrog nor Blizzard own the rights to DotA. Only the map is owned by Blizzard (as it was created with their tools). Furthermore, paying some 30 bucks for DotA on a GOOD engine is 30 bucks well spent.
Anyone trying to tell me that the WC3 engine is still suited for todays standards is plain delusional.
Good luck to you guys.
^^ Completely agree with the above post.
ReplyDeleteНу и когда уже?
ReplyDelete"So if you've played DotA on the Warcraft engine, Heroes of Newerth will not be a problem. In fact, a large percentage of teams in DotA's competitive scene have transferred to HoN."
ReplyDeleteThis is bullshit, only a very very tiny fraction of former competitive DotA players has moved, the absolutely vast majority rejects HoN.
And DotA players go in the millions, not thousands
And why would I spend money on something I can have for free, OR, if I have to pay for it I get one of the best games of the last decaded including it's expansion on top of the original which already has all those heroes? No need to reply, I simply wouldn't:)
"a large percentage of teams in DotA's competitive scene have transferred to HoN"
ReplyDeletejust blatantly untrue.
no stats 4 u
